Frequently Asked Questions
Can I set the email subject and body in advance?+
Yes. You can pre-fill the recipient address, subject line, and message body. The user can still edit any of these before sending.
Which email apps does it work with?+
The QR code uses the standard mailto: protocol, which is supported by Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and virtually every email client on iOS and Android.
Can I add multiple recipients?+
The standard mailto: format supports a single primary recipient in the QR code. You can add CC and BCC addresses in some implementations.
Does the email send automatically when scanned?+
No. Scanning the QR code opens a draft email with your pre-filled information. The user must tap Send manually, giving them full control.
Is there a character limit for the email body?+
While QR codes support up to about 4,296 characters total, we recommend keeping the entire mailto: string under 300 characters for reliable scanning.
